Sally H. Wertheim, PhD, was born in Cleveland in 1931. She received her doctorate in the History of Education at Case Western University. Dr. Wertheim has been with John Carroll University for 39 years, where she worked as an administrator, a researcher, and lastly, a professor. Since 2008, she has served in the esteemed role of Dean Emeritus and Professor Emeritus at John Carroll University. Dr. Wertheim was the second woman chair of the board at the Jewish Community Federation and now a lifetime trustee after serving in several leadership positions. This interview is part of a series of interviews documenting the experience of leaders of the Jewish community in order to understand the development of the Jewish community and its role in the larger society.
